Blue skies, rolling green hills, and one stunning family home were the dream scene for Lauren and Corey’s French cottage-inspired backyard wedding in Great Falls, Virginia. Lauren and Corey’s wedding has been a few years in the making but luckily, it was worth the wait! It’s no secret that the pandemic caused a lot of couples to postpone their weddings. While we definitely felt the pressure and stress of COVID, we decided to lean into this time and get to know our clients extremely well! As a result, we were able to create and design some stunning intimate weddings that really told the story of our couples.
Lauren and Corey had to wait a little longer to have their wedding day, they live in Canada so traveling back to the states was a challenge. But when the day finally came it was perfect! Even though Lauren and Corey’s life is in Canada these days, they knew they had to get married at Lauren’s family home in Virginia. Lauren was extremely intentional about the decisions she made for her wedding day and it resulted in a breathtaking and extremely sentimental evening.
Alright friends, let us tell you a little bit about our beautiful bride Lauren. She was a dream to work with! Spending the last few years chatting with her and developing the vision for her wedding day was so inspiring. She pictured a French garden and wanted to bring in wicker texture, blue accents, and dreamy organic flowers. We discussed multiple design ideas and ultimately settled on the PERFECT combination of a backyard wedding that felt like a French garden infused with organic romance. Spending this time with Lauren has been so much fun for us, and to top it all off she documented the journey on TikTok and Insta! She’s a bit of a social media star so naturally, her behind-the-scenes vids were unreal!!
Every inch of this home was delicately designed, but our favorite spot was the ceremony. For this, we wanted to bring Lauren’s dream of being surrounded by flower fields to life and we knew the perfect setting for this would be right in front of the rolling hills. To bring a natural and organic feel to this ceremony we designed the florals in no-show vases; this gave us the “growing from the ground” feel and it was perfect! When you walked down that aisle it truly felt like walking through a field of flowers. Once you reached the end of the aisle you were greeted by a dreamy half-moon-shaped arch designed on the ground and growing up towards the sky. We incorporated white roses, blue accent flowers, baby’s breath, and of course a little touch of pampas making this ceremony design a breath of fresh air. The icing on the cake of Lauren and Corey’s ceremony was the natural wood cross-back chairs for guests, lanterns and wicker baskets for decor, and the sweetest heartfelt vows.
Backyard Wedding Reception
One thing we adored about Lauren and Corey’s wedding was how consistent it was from start to finish, and how well each space flowed together seamlessly. While the ceremony was out in the gorgeous meadow their reception was held under a beautiful fabric tent dressed with flowing drapery. We turned this tent into a garden-party extravaganza with unique florals, wicker lanterns, string lights, and shining disco balls. Reception tables were accented by white gauze runners and tablecloths, and surrounded the dance floor (which was THE was the place to be at the end of the night)! For dinner, Lauren and Corey wanted to pull in their French-cottage theme. French blue taper candles and vintage glassware cohesively pulled the elements of their backyard wedding together. Floral was kept rather simple inside the tent with bud vases filled with ranunculus, astilbe, and baby’s breath. It was gorgeous!
Lauren and Corey’s intimate backyard wedding day was a dream come true. As the sunset and the lights lit up the disco ball under the tent it felt like everyone was dancing in the stars. Enjoy!
